magazine proj
i picked this because i like the photography and the sleekness and sophistication of mens magazines. It's sexy and classy. I chose Esquire because I like how they put all the headlines and titles behind the models/celebs as a background

Photoshop Tutorial
I followed a tutorial for making pictures look dark and stormy. I turned down saturation on yellow tones and created a blueish-grey gradient tone map. Lastly, I used the Difference Clouds filter and some noise and blur effects to create the rain.

Photoshop Tutorial
I completed this by doing the Abstract Photo Manipulation tutorial located here. It wasn't my idea but I think it looks really neat.

Tutorial/Playing with Photoshop
With the first image (originally a black and white photo) I played with the saturation and the burn levels. I didn't do too much of that with the first project, so I thought this would give me an opportunity to do so. The second picture is a picture we took at the beach last year. I tried to enhace the contrast in the colors of the sunrise. I did not use any tutorials. I just played around for a little while. I like the first picture, but I think the colors in the second picture could be blended a little more, but could not figure out how to get that done.

This typeface is pretty simple and that is why I like it. I found it in this area of Amsterdam, the 'GEM' region.

I saw this on someone's fence while walking to class. It's Halloween "police" tape. I found it at 112 Morris St.

Captured Life
Yes, that's the Manchester Bridge.
Yes, that's someone dressed as a bull chasing us.
Yes, we're drunk.
Yes, there is a complete lack of self-restraint. On everyone's part.

Captured Life
I was in a car with friends one night when we stopped at a light and I saw a neon sign. It read "COLOR" and each letter was in a different color. I got my camera to take a picture when my friends drove away, blurring the image. I believe this represents life because life is full of many colors and is always moving.

Life
I went to San Diego with my best friend in 2005. On our last day of vacation, I knew it was my final chance to capture a picture of the sun setting over the Pacific. After spending all day at the SD zoo, we rushed to La Jolla on a bus (sitting next to one of the biggest a-holes I've ever met). The bus ride took way longer than expected & when we got off we had literally minutes until the sun went down. We ran to the cliffs and started snapping pictures. After the sun went down we stopped at a small restaurant that had been recommended by someone we met in the city. There we met a South African author who offered to take us back to his house and get high (we declined). This picture represents that day, which so far, has been one of the greatest days of my life.
